snspealing - Developing a new School Nursing framework for Ealing

Two half day workshop were delivered in March 2013 with the local working group, which inolved  develop a universal service plan, and training the working group to use and update the tool in the future.

Over late 2012 and early 2013  we worked with a steering group representing both the London Borough of Ealing and the NHS to develop a new strategic framework to use for future decisions around workforce and service offer for the School Nursing service in Ealing.

This involved several working group meetings to define the objectives and data requirements for the project, and three half day workshops to develop a School Nursing Service Planner.

The project  involved mapping all local post codes to child deprivation (using the 2010 national IDACI score framework).  This has provided deprivation quartiles for each state school in the area.  Private school and special needs populations were then added to this.

The final SNSP was rolled out in April 2013 and will shortly be extended to cover the special schools team.  Ealing intend to use the tool to guide the development of the future service offer, and help guide a new workforce commissioning process which will use the outputs of the SNSP to assist future commissioning.
