We have been asked to work with Birmingham to develop a new school nursing planning framework. This is intended to be rolled out in the autumn of 2013 and will involve the implementation of our School Nursing Service Planner (SNSP). Birmingham will be the third health service to receive the new SNSP after recent projects delivered successfully across Liverpool and Ealing. We have recently completed a project with Birmingham aimed at placing new health visitors, using the outputs from our Health Visiting Service Planner. Birmingham intend to use the SNSP to inform both future workforce planning and defining their service offer.
To date the project has involved mapping all local post codes to child deprivation (using the 2010 national IDACI score framework). This has provided deprivation quartiles for each state school in the area. We have access to a limited dataset for private schools which is currently being worked on.
